What are the responsibilities and job description for the Robotics Technician position at 4D Systems?

***This is a long-term contract position (12-24 months) and may lead to direct hire. Work will be performed primarily in Huntersville, NC for Fanuc America. PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

Support installation and service of robots and robotic systems by providing technical assistance. This work involves set-up, programming, troubleshooting and repairing of robots and peripheral devices. Provide strong customer service while assisting FANUC District Managers with sales support issues allowing them to focus on increasing unit sales and profit growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and debug.

· Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and debug at customer sites.

· Layout, set-up and secure robots and associate equipment.

· Energize, manipulate/jog individual robot axis.

· Load, upgrade, backup robot system core and application software.

· Define or teach simple robot paths and program the robot for unattended operation.

· Troubleshooting or debug of technical problems.

· Repair, rework or retrofit of products and equipment.

· Disassemble and prepare FAC products and systems for shipment.

· Operation of equipment (drill press, band saws, lift truck, wire cutting machine, engraver, etc.) as defined by FAC or industry safety standards.

· Compliance with all FAC Robot Safety Procedures (safety awareness barriers around perimeter of robot envelope operating unattended at slow speeds, Robot Safety Interlock Systems (RSIS) around the perimeter of robot operating unattended at greater than slow speeds).

· Proper care and use of tools.

· Provide timely updates back to FAC which should include any incidental service issues that may arise during installation and service activities.

· Process any necessary paperwork and provide the customer with detailed descriptions of the problem(s) found.

· Work as part of the Southeast execution team to ensure success of projects and product sales

· Reliable, consistent attendance required.

· Self-motivated and enthusiastic problem-solver with strong attention to detail.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

· Maintain shop inventory and housekeeping.

· Maintain daily building and equipment maintenance.

· Other special, unique, unusual or mundane duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

· Interpretation and comprehension of engineering documentation, prints and/or schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics)

· Proper use of hand tools (drill, punch, crimpers, solder, etc.)

· OSHA regulations (fork truck, lockout, etc.)

· Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction, metric)

2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

· Associate Degree or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electronics or Electronic Technician

· Minimum two or more year’s relevant experience.

3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

· Lifting of up to 50 pound of material

· Operation of equipment

· Proper use of hand tools

4. VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, SPEAKING

· Good visual acuity, hearing and speaking ability.

· Must be able to fully and easily communicate with customers, suppliers and other FANUC personnel.

5. ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING

· Must be able to solo travel to customer’s sites, suppliers and other FANUC Robotics locations.

· Occasional travel for extended on-site project assignments.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
