4 Entertainment Group (4EG) is hiring a detail-oriented, creative Marketing Manager in our Chicago office to competitively position our brands and support our bars in our mission to enhance neighborhoods by creating the most enjoyable guest experiences and environments for people to gather, eat and drink.
4EG is a privately held, local company founded and helmed by four partners that acquire, develop, and manage a wide-ranging roster of exceptional establishments including: aliveOne, Estelle’s, The Owl, Easy Bar, Remedy and Central Park Bar. Although each place is individually unique, they are all built from the foundation of exceptional friendly service and superior quality of lighting, sound, music and décor.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for our bar locations’ marketing and communications, including digital marketing and social media, traditional marketing, graphic design, event planning and community partnerships, merchandise and e-commerce, and earned media and public relations. All marketing efforts should be designed to increase traffic and revenue for each location. The Marketing Manager will report to 4EG’s Managing Partner.
As 4EG’s Marketing Manager, you will support our mission through your work by embracing and helping carry out our team's focus on hospitality, bringing your A-game to work every day, teamwork, cleanliness/strong organization and sales.
This role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Digital Marketing and Social Media
- Edit and oversee the social media content calendar for organic posts across all platforms, utilizing paid advertising and/or boosted posts as needed.
- Manage the locations’ online reputation by responding to reviews, customer surveys, and direct messages.
- Update and maintain the Wix websites of assigned locations.
- Plan and execute email campaigns to market events, private parties, and special promotions using Constant Contact.
- Develop search and display campaigns using Google Ads.
- Manage photography, videography, and editing of photos and videos to be used for promotions.
Traditional Marketing
- Coordinate and ensure delivery of operational supplies, including table tents, sandwich boards, posters, gift cards, apparel, menus, and more.
- Execute paid marketing campaigns through print media, digital media, radio, and outdoor; analyze and adjust accordingly.
Graphic Design
- Design and layout a range of online and print-based marketing communication tools, including posters, menus, email and web graphics.
- Coordinate various designs with a third-party graphic designer as needed.
- Ensure consistency of design; maintain and uphold 4EG brand standards.
- Coordinate print production with preferred 4EG vendors.
- Order, track, and distribute branded items (apparel, koozies, pens, stamps, business cards, etc.)
Event Planning and Community Partnerships
- Plan special events at locations to coincide with holidays, sporting events, major milestones, and other opportunities to drive traffic into locations. Follow up with bar management for event wrap-ups and analysis.
- Coordinate sponsorship opportunities with local community events and activities.
- Work with local brands to execute cross-promotions.
- Assist Private Party Sales Manager in planning private events using Tripleseat, as needed.
Merchandise and E-Commerce
- Take creative initiative on new apparel design and product offerings.
- Order branded merchandise, including koozies, pens, phone wallets, pint glasses, apparel, and more.
- Distribute various merchandise, apparel, and gift cards to customers through Shopify or Facebook Shops.
Earned Media/Public Relations
- Manage third-party PR firm to assist with public relations.
- Maintain relationships with local reporters and bloggers on the lifestyle and hospitality beat; Regularly issue press releases and announcements, invite to special events, etc.
- Update the company blog, The Garnish, with intriguing, timely articles.

What You Need to Be Successful:
- Mac OS X knowledge is helpful, but not required.
- Willingness to learn the latest computer technology and maintain working connection with all of company’s programs and systems (e.g. AgoraPulse, Google Analytics, Office365, Tripleseat, etc.); compliance with company technology requirements is a must.
- Knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, and TikTok.
- Experience with basic graphic design tools like Canva is preferred. Experience Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of design and print production, with ability to provide creative direction and written copy for execution.
- Event planning experience, either through volunteer work or professional career, is a must.
- Knowledge of and experience with paid advertising opportunities a plus, especially Google Ads and Facebook Ads.
- Should be able to request and use all analysis tools available across marketing channels to determine effectiveness and trends.
- Must possess a desire to create, execute, and participate in unique ideas that drive traffic and revenue to each establishment.
- Unwavering attention to detail.
- Ability to work under time pressures and defined financial limits to produce quality events and materials.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with a diverse group of management teams and 4EG vendors.
- Availability for evening and weekend work as job duties/deadlines demand, to attend and execute promotional/special events, etc.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related degree
- 1 – 3 years of experience in marketing, events, or communications/public relations
- Strong portfolio, graphic design experience preferred
- Hospitality industry knowledge or experience a plus, previous work in bar or restaurant strongly preferred
