Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Care Companion provides supportive patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. Essential Job Functions • Provides support to the patient including, but not limited to, care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility. • Creates a safe environment for patients. • Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns. • Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors and all employees. • Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
