The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects from acquisition to final acceptance by the client. This role involves contract administration, scheduling, costing, project supervision, and quality control, with profit/loss responsibility for assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtaining Work: Involved in estimating and bid submission, serving as the primary contact for the owner or general contractor post-award.
- Scheduling: Coordinates project activities with various stakeholders to meet project schedules, including installation, start-up, and commissioning processes.
- Material Flow: Works with the prefabrication department to ensure efficient material procurement and delivery to meet project schedules.
- Quoted Items Procurement: Purchases and procures all quoted items for the project, in coordination with estimating.
- Accounting Controls: Manages project budgets, labor, subcontracted work, and material costs, updating cost forecasts monthly.
- Communications: Attends all owner and general contractor meetings, ensures subcontractors understand their scope of work, and manages job foremen.
- Change Orders: Estimates and submits change orders for approval, monitors approval status, and ensures work is carried out upon approval.
- Assistance and Problem Solving: Provides technical assistance and acts as the primary resource for problem-solving outside normal operations.
- Commissioning: Develops and monitors commissioning plans, ensuring timely scheduling of activities.
- Project Deliverable: Ensures projects have no lost man-days due to injury, are free of OSHA violations, meet or exceed client expectations, and meet financial performance criteria.
Required Experience and Skills
- 7-10 years of project management experience in mechanical contracting, preferably with a $50-80 million company or larger.
- Experience managing projects in the $8-12 million range with above-average performance.
- BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on quality and results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Project, Excel & Word) and Timberline.
- Strong analytical and time management skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
