JOB TITLE: Youth Care Worker-Bilingual Spanish
DEPARTMENT: ORR- Office of Refugee Resettlement
Physical Skills Required: Ability to move within the facility, ability to provide crisis intervention as needed, ability to bend, stoop and kneel.
Duties:
1. Bilingual Youth Care Worker Provides general supervision to clients in accordance with the policies of the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
2. Transports clients to appointments (medical, dental), school or community group outings and designated locations.
3. Travels with clients during fly out to the authorized sponsor to their country of origin.
4. Maintains basic disciplinary and behavioral control of the clients, observing them closely and stimulate the clients’ interest in various activities and programs provided by the facility and supervise their participation in those activities.
5. Attempts to ease the adjustment of each resident to placement at the facility by means of personal contact and counseling techniques.
6. Assigns and supervises the clients in various daily maintenance tasks expected of them (i.e., assisting in mealtime setup and cleanup procedures).
7. As assigned, eats with the clients, supervising general mealtime behavior and manners.
8. Encourages and supervises the proper performance of clients’ daily personal hygiene tasks.
9. Notes daily activities in the unit logs, including references to at least the following intake and release statistics (separate logbook), safety and security checks, and unusual or problematic behaviors on the part of the clients, arrival and departure of any persons who visits the clients, and any other pertinent information.
10. Participates in group sessions employing the treatment model of the facility and works with the assigned Case Managers with specific treatment plans for each resident.
11. Ensures that each resident is properly prepared and arrives at school on time.
12. Performs necessary household cleaning and upkeep.
13. Attends staff training sessions as required and as scheduled.
14. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must be Bilingual-Spanish
- Must have a clear live scan, DOJ, Child Abuse Index, FBI check.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Ability to interact and communicate both, verbally and in writing with clients, other staff and to the general public in English & Spanish.
- Must have CPR/First Aid Certificate.
