What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE PLANNER/SCHEDULER position at AAK?
- Accountable for developing and ensuring all safe maintenance practices are attached to each job in CMMS.
- Administer and manage the CMMS system, including providing updates to assets, parts, and schedules, provide training to new hires, and ensure accuracy of all entries into the system.
- Responsible for screening work orders, receives all requests for maintenance work except those to be completed on the same day and screen the work orders for accurate data.
- Be the principal contact and liaison between Maintenance and Production, ensuring all work is scheduled in a timely manner, all planned maintenance is efficient, and that all work is performed according to the job outline in CMMS.
- Conduct/participate in weekly planning meetings with production supervisors and production planners to establish asset availability for intervention, work order priorities, as well as review recommended planned maintenance actions for the following week, coordinate asset access and availability to meet needs
- Identify and prioritize routine maintenance, recommend schedules to maintenance and production, publish weekly scheduled and planned work, and assign a task list to each maintenance team member at the beginning of each week.
- Supports development of and builds the daily, weekly, and annual schedules, including shutdown schedules, of work for the assigned maintenance area.
- Research work order requirements, review equipment history, review previously completed similar jobs, and identify safe work practices to develop more efficient repair procedures for future scheduled work.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop projects related to asset upgrades and replacements consistent with plant optimization, safety, and reliability.
- Perform equipment quality audits to identify and document job requirements.
- Determine resource requirements including crew size and hours, prepares a bill of materials, (source materials not in stock and forward to purchasing Specialist for acquisition, procure as needed, determine special tools, external resources (rigging, scaffolding, etc), provide total cost in terms of labor, materials, external resources.
- Plan parts and materials for reliability improvement projects in order to maximize technician wrench time, improve efficiency, increase system reliability and performance
- Estimate required work hours associated with work order tasks and total work duration
- Analyze equipment downtime data and develop & manage a warranty process that will drive OEM uptime and lower costs
- Drive a proactive preventative and planned maintenance program to ensure that 85% of planned work is proactive.
- Proactively identify potential equipment problems based on work orders and feedback from maintenance and operations and communicate the needs to the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor.
- Schedule contractors for preventative/predictive maintenance such as necessary x-rays, infrared, vibration, etc.
- Contact suppliers for MRO (Maintenance, Repairs and Operations) parts and plant supplies.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement / Reliability projects to reduce maintenance costs.
- Ensures competitive costs of vendor managed inventory without sacrificing quality. Manage stock levels for parts inventory to ensure availability to eliminate downtime and build part kits for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED (Associates Degree in Related Field Preferred)
- 3 years of related experience (Preferred inventory control and management skills)
- Proficient knowledge of industrial equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures, technical catalogs.
- Ability to read and understand governmental regulations and company policy and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions managers, co-workers, customers, vendors and the general workforce.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply those concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word, and Excel software, and CMMS systems.
