In this role, you will be the technical point person for the sales organization in Automation & Electrification Solutions, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN), providing technical solutions and advice on ABB products, systems and applications. You will be responsible for developing & implementing highly technical custom solutions for Energy Solutions. Reporting to the HUB Electrical Business Manager, you will act as the primary point of contact between assigned Pursuits for Electrical Systems and ABB Energy. Prospects will be from the Power, Water, Chemicals, Refining, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceutical markets. This role serves as a business driver for sales activities and solution architect for Energy Industries Electrical Systems Solutions. The role will address all of the various customer segments (end user plant sites, end user corporate centers, EPCs (Engineering Procurement and Constructions) and engineering firms, Channel Partners). You will be responsibility for selling to existing customers and to grow his/her installed base of customers by prospecting the assigned territory for conversion opportunities.

Your responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed sales targets for the assigned territory.
  • Develop and maintain good, trusting relationships within the engineering, maintenance, operations groups related to strategic pursuits.
  • Consult with Account Managers and Pursuit Leaders to develop solutions and strategies to craft a creative electrical systems
  • Technical design, review and leadership will be key for creating innovative solutions on a project-to-project basis.
  • Closely collaborate with bid manager to optimize costs and uncover risks to put together the most complete solution.
  • Develop, execute and drive capture strategies for opportunity specific sales pursuits.
  • Maintain an accurate sales forecast and customer engagement within SFDC (salesforce.com).
  • Understand the organizational, cultural and competitive landscape of your customers well enough to know our strengths and weaknesses and be able to anticipate opportunities and threats to our business.
  • Assist Sales Management and other BU (Business Unit) Team Members in preparing the necessary information (MS Power Point slides, MS Excel spreadsheets, etc) to support meetings with customers and BU Management.
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field and minimum of 5 years of related industry experience.
  • Experience in Direct to End Customer sales support or service is required, or 5 or more years of experience with ABB.
  • Practical understanding of the electrical distribution market and what customers desire from their equipment vendor supplying state of the art solutions.
  • Experience with developing engineered solutions for Electrical Systems, which include Ehouses, System Studies or related.
  • A willingness to be on the road visiting customers up to 40%.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
