You will be accountable for sales of EL Market US (United States), EL (Electrification) Business Area in Linden, New Jersey, driving sales volumes and margins. The Large Project Construction Sales Manager will be responsible for meeting/exceeding assigned sales goals and objectives by developing and maintaining strong, productive working relationships with customers, and by successfully quoting, negotiating, closing and managing large commercial construction projects involving ABB Electrification distribution and control equipment and services.

Your responsibilities

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with electrical and general contractors at all levels of their organizations
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with channel partners (distributors, VAR’s, OEM’s) and influencers including engineers/consultants
  • Proven ability to perform take off's and develop cost effective proposals from project plans and specifications for electrical distribution and control equipment and services
  • Proven ability to quote, negotiate, close and manage large commercial construction projects involving electrical distribution and control equipment and services
  • Plan and implement sales strategies to maximize market share and margin; motivate contractors to prefer GE over the competition
  • Conduct technical presentations to create preference for ABB
  • Provide training, joint sales calls and applications support
  • Proven ability to develop and utilize strong network of cross functional internal resources (manufacturing, operations, spec engineers, Services, etc) to maximize productivity and hit rate
  • Proven ability to be a strong, collaborative team player
  • Meet or exceed assigned goals and objectives including but not limited orders budgets
  • Provide market feedback, competitive intelligence and hit rate information to business and sales leadership
  • Create and maintain accurate data base using digital sales tools including Empower and SFDC on opportunities; data shall include but not be limited to job name, bills of material, bid date, award date, ship date, status (won, lost, quoted, etc), identity of key players (end users, contractors, distributors, engineers, etc)
  • Utilize resources including Dodge to help proactively identify and pursue strategic opportunities
  • Utilize and be proficient with Microsoft digital tools including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Develop and maintain customer account plans detailing identity of key customers, players, estimate total annual volume, annual ABB volume, hit rate, strength of relationship, development needs, etc
  • Participate in industry and local construction organizations to build relationships

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or qualified industry experience and minimum 2 years sales experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical industry and ABB products
  • Must be able to drive automobile to call on customers
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic with positive “can do” attitude
  • Strong project management skills
  • Customer focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs
  • Strong coordination and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of customer financial drivers / needs
  • Ability to utilize analytical software and sales tools
  • Strong oral, written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
