Position Description
Job Title: Staff Engineer
Industry: Transportation – Commercial Motor Vehicles
Reports to: VP of Technical Services
Scope: Draft, maintain, and facilitate all technical documents relating to the Technical Solutions and New Coach Delivery groups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compose and maintain service documents for PDI, Service, and Product Development
- Perform routine revisions to the service documents
- Create CAD models (SolidEdge) and drawings for basic components and assemblies
- Perform data acquisition tests and document data for peer review
- Facilitate reviews of OEM service documents
- Maintain the OEM issue lists
- Perform reviews of OEM technical specification documents
- Compose and maintain report formats for process standardization (technical project requests, change requests, etc.)
- Maintain a repository of all documents
- Embrace and promote the customer service philosophy of exceeding customer expectations every day
- Less than 20% travel domestically and internationally for training or testing
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 0-2 years with a bachelor’s or associate degree. Non-degreed candidates are to be evaluated case by case
- Engineering bachelor, associate’s degree, or a combination of experience
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments within expected time frames
- Possess a working knowledge of current automated business systems preferably Office Suite
- CAD training in SolidEdge or similar
- Electrical and mechanical aptitude a must
