The account manager is the conduit between the client and the agency. Day-to-day contact with the clients and team members across the agency while keeping everyone on deadline and ensuring we are following the client’s marketing strategy.
While fielding client requests, the account manager is always looking for new opportunities for their clients, staying up on general marketing and media trends as well as trends specific to their industries. Developing a relationship with the clients so they see you as a partner and a resource is essential.
In this role, you will help to develop client marketing plans. But it doesn’t end there, then you need to analyze those strategies and campaigns and communicate the good, the bad and the ugly to the client. Making recommendations to campaigns based on these findings.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, business, or related degree required
- Minimum of two years of account management experience required
Responsibilities
- Handles day-to-day activities for assigned clients. Always talks to the client looking for new opportunities and understanding projects. Responds promptly to client requests. Understands the client’s industry, always keeping an eye out for competitors’ activities, identifying new opportunities to present to the clients.
- Obtains necessary information from clients for projects to be put into production, communicates that to necessary team members, this should start with the Creative Director on all projects. Quickly and accurately relays client changes to all appropriate parties. Coordinates project timing and budgets with Traffic Manager and COO.
- Gathers all creative assets necessary to complete a project, which may require research and outreach to third parties.
- Constantly communicates with the Traffic Manager to always know where your project stands and to ensure production has everything they need to work on the project.
- Informs Creative Director regularly of account progress for all assigned clients; involves CD immediately in event of potential problems, i.e. client/agency relations, budget overages, etc.
- Effectively presents, sells, and defends all creative work/recommendations to clients. Supports other client service team members in these functions.
- Assists in preparing client invoices, proposals, marketing communications and strategic marketing plans, media, and public relations plans.
- Coordinates and authorizes price quotations for client approval.
- Coordinates print projects by communicating with vendors regarding quantities, shipping, etc.
- Actively seeks additional projects/new business from existing client contacts. Promotes company to find new business outside of client base. This includes networking, board participation, PR and prospecting new business opportunities. When conditions permit, one networking event a month must be attended in Syracuse or Binghamton.
- Continues education to be constantly learning and increasing knowledge and skills through available reading, courses, and seminars.
- Checks materials prior to sending and then obtains client approval.
- Prepares billing sheets in a timely manner to COO to ensure all billing is correct and on time.
- Ensure production is busy. Always being proactive with clients will help keep their funnel full so there is no downtime in production.
- Holds mandatory meetings with Creative Director: twice a week, minimum.
- Maintains the corporate image internally and externally. This includes personal social media posts: always have the utmost integrity when posting.
- Works with production and operations to develop quotes and RFP review.
- Goes over monthly reporting with COO to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of job.
