About Camp Paivika:
Located in the beautiful San Bernardino National Forest, AbilityFirst Camp Paivika offers overnight summer programs for children and adults with disabilities. These programs provide a traditional camp experience with nurturing support and an emphasis on fun. It is one of the first fully accessible camps in the United States. Camp Paivika has helped thousands of children and adults with disabilities make friends, try new activities, and become more confident and independent. As campers enjoy their Camp Paivika experience, families and caregivers can take a break from the rigors and challenges of providing 24/7 care, knowing that their loved ones are safe – cared for and having fun.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is desired.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and perform the physically rigorous daily care tasks for individuals with severe physical disabilities.
- Must agree to abide by AbilityFirst rules and policies.
- Must be able to reside on camp premises when camp is in session.
- All offers of employment are contingent on passing FRASCO background check and a pre-employment physical exam which includes a drug screen,
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attends and participates in staff orientation week and ongoing training sessions throughout the summer.
- Responsible for the care and supervision of assigned campers. This includes providing and/or assisting as needed in the personal care needs of the campers: dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, lifting and transferring.
- Directly responsible to the Unit Director.
- Prepares written reports on each assigned camper and submits to Unit Director each session.
- Performs cabin duty at night and afternoon rest period according to a rotating schedule.
- Assists program staff as needed during assigned activities as well as during evening programs. This includes assisting in the following program areas: swimming, horseback riding, sports, crafts, performing arts, zip line and nature studies.
- On the last day of each session, assists in the cleaning and preparation of camp for the next incoming group of campers
- In an emergency, assumes responsibility for any job deemed necessary by the Camp Director to ensure the safety of all campers and staff.

Salary : $26,500 - $33,600
