What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Driver position at ABM Industries?
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR DUTIES:
- Possess the skills, qualifications, licenses, and certifications necessary to operate a commercial motor vehicle with a weight in excess of 10,000 pounds
- Perform all required daily vehicle inspections, maintain accurate vehicle records, complete daily driver’s logs and time records as required, and turn in all paperwork in each day per requirements, keep assigned vehicle clean and check/secure load to prevent product damage
- Responsible for customer development regarding ordering, merchandising, and display opportunities and establishing a sound, professional relationship with key personnel in customer accounts
- Minimize stale product levels within company established quotas
- Review and analyze territory reports for identification of problems and sales opportunities
- Ensuring out-of-code product is removed from the marketplace and that all product complies with the company’s product freshness code system
- Maintain a professional personal appearance, including uniform dress, hygiene and grooming
- Learn and use the fundamentals of the territory sales and direct store delivery system including:
o Display
o Merchandising
o Time Schedule/Callbacks
o Space and Position
o Customer Relations
o Product ordering
- Maintain knowledge of competition, including pricing, products, space and position, people, displays, account stability
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Sarbanes – Oxley, Safety, etc.)
