We are looking for an Electrical Testing Technician (NETA III experience) to perform testing, maintenance and repairs including visual and electrical inspections and testing on power distribution equipment including low, medium and high voltage systems in such a manner as to ensure optimal system reliability. PAY RANGE:  $42.04 - $48.60

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform NETA specified testing of various types of power distribution equipment such as; circuit breaker secondary and primary injection testing; turns ratio, power factor, sweep frequency response testing of transformers, AC/DC Hipot, VLF and Tan Delta Testing, microprocessor based relay testing, insulation resistance, contact resistance of switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, distribution panel boards, and controls, etc.
  • Maintain and repair various types of power distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, switchboards, circuit breakers, relays and controls.
  • Maintain and keep current, your ABM email account.
  • Utilize ABM smart phone; for work Order Management process, daily monitoring the “Schedule Board” on the Connect X Portal.
  • Report to assigned work location, on time and prepared to work.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project manager, including a call to the Project manager each day at the end of the shift to report the day’s progress and receive further instruction.
  • Provide PM with customer signed interim reports daily by email and, hard copies weekly at a minimum.
  • Insure that time reporting is accurate and matches your vehicle GPS reports.
  • Perform Start-up, Commissioning, Inspections, Testing and Maintenance on low, medium and high voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Strong understanding of IEEE/ANSI/NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Specifications and NFPA70B and Industry Codes & Standards.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics with ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Complete maintenance activities during scheduled limited facility power outages.
  • Maintain daily, weekly and/or monthly reports and inspections as required.
  • Work with and take direction from the Lead Technician/Engineers, Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Operations Managers, General Manager and/or Regional Manager.
  • Learn, understand, and comply with safety, and other emergency practices. 
  • Inform the supervisor of any condition deemed to be unsafe.
  • Learn, understand, and comply with all ABM and customer policies.
  • Participate in training provided by the IBEW Local Union Hall or ABM, directed at increasing job-related skills and acquiring or maintaining NETA Certification.
  • Assist in training of other employees as directed.
  • Work according to the schedule prepared by the Project Managers/Technicians Supervisors; to include any local, out of town, out of state and out of country project locations to include projects both in and out of Local Union Jurisdictions.
  • Travel as needed to; daily, short term and long term project locations and assignments.
  • Work overtime as needed, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Assist in emergencies as needed including emergency calls at non-scheduled hours.
  • Assist and ensure that all work areas are returned to a clean, neat, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Report to supervisor any information having the potential to affect customer or employee relations.
  • Respond in a professional, polite, and helpful manner when dealing with other staff and customers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both written and orally with managers and clients

Qualifications

  • Obtain and maintain certifications as a NETA Level 2, 3 and 4 Test Technician & Field Engineer by successfully passing examinations required and conducted by NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association).
  • Technical school graduate and or engineering degree or five or more years of experience in the testing and evaluation of low, medium and high voltage electrical power systems.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both written and orally with managers and clients.
  • Produce clear, legible and accurate written test reports, delivered to the Project manager  no less than weekly, but daily as much as is practicable.
  • Produce and synchronize accurate digital test reports utilizing a laptop computer and Power DB Software and data base on a daily basis.
  • Attend monthly safety training meetings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, various required testing and company software and programs.
  • Maintain ABM Email Accounts and Password Update Requirements.
  • Maintain access to office portal SharePoint Team Sites, Schedule Board, Time Keeping and Work Order Management Systems.
  • Operate and maintain ABM Service vehicle is a safe, clean, organized and conscientious manner.
  • Must be available to work out of town
  • Must be available to work evenings/weekends
  • Must be able to repetitively lift 50 lbs, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, stand, walk, reach overhead, twist, sit, walk, climb stairs, and reach at awkward angles, for extended periods of time.
