Human Resources Generalist
AC Martin, Inc., headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join its Human Resources team. We are currently looking for an experienced HR Generalist. This position will report to the Human Resources Manager and requires an individual who is organized, knowledgeable about benefits, and can interact with all levels of staff.
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively provide high-level HR generalist support to 150 employees in multiple sites.
- Benefits administration, including open enrollment and COBRA; work with providers on annual testing and reporting requirements; coordinate audit, track annual changes, and work with 401(k) committee.
- Responsible for onboarding new hires and terminations including exit meetings, as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local governing agencies.
- Participates in developing goals and systems for the department.
- Assist the HR Manager during annual reviews to ensure accurate implementation and timely completion.
- Assist the HR Manager to resolve employee relations promptly; provide backup support with investigation & record of employee concerns.
- Interpret, inform, and provide support and guidance to employees on HR policies as necessary.
- Fully proficient and compliant with leave regulations including FMLA, CFRA, and PFL and the ability to respond knowledgeably on inquiries; administer and track leaves of absences.
- Arrange anti-harassment training for new supervisors and employees as required by law.
- Administration and reporting of workers comp compliance documentation for OSHA reporting.
- Responsible for Floor Warden and other fire/life safety duties; attend training and update staff on emergency procedures; actively update IIPP as necessary to ensure compliance and safety.
- Advise Payroll on wage and hour and deduction matters in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.
- Document and track employee licenses and certifications; ensure records are current.
- Own the recruitment process, including job postings, prescreening resumes for hiring managers, and arrange for candidate interviews; actively work to improve the effectiveness of the process – demonstrate the will to take initiative to think outside of the standard recruitment box.
- Perform background checks on new hires while assuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum four years of progressive HR generalist experience in a professional office environment.
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws, federal, state, and local regulations, and hands on benefits administration experience.
- Must be agile to change and open to taking on new tasks.
- Skillful recruitment experience highly preferred.
- Proficient with HRIS and Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel; ADP experience a plus.
- Ability to multitask and support various levels of staff and vendors.
- Ability to compose articulate and professional correspondences, able to communicate intelligently on federal, state, and local regulations.
- A can-do attitude and a team player.
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university; HR certification highly preferred.
- Ability to think critically and work autonomously.
- Must maintain absolute confidentiality and data protection.
