What you will be doing... Your IMPACT
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers through regular contact meetings as well as in person visits to docks/terminals.
- Provide subject matter expertise with the barge experience to communicate with customers regarding orders, daily traffic/barge movements, river conditions, operating delays, and address any concerns.
- Provide and support sales forecasts for operating budgets and assist department leadership with the implementation of strategic sales and marketing plans.
- Track weekly call reports and quoting/contracts including new opportunities, marketing of ACBL equipment, and renewal of spot/term contracts.
- Provide feedback to the sales team and executive team members related to market trends and market intelligence through regular customer contact and networking at industry events.
- Utilize metrics and traffic pattern data to drive sales activity, improve loaded miles, and increase front/backhaul percentages.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and serve as customer advocate to ensure needs are addressed but meet the requirements of ACBL best practices.
- Represent ACBL at trade shows, conventions, conferences, and other events.
What we are looking for...
You will need to have:
- 8 years of barge and/or boat logistics or transportation industry experience
- Willing to be on call and travel to customers and clients.
- Experience with financials and mathematical figures and calculations
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong personal accountability and goal-orientation
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
- Planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience working in a logistics, operations management role.
