ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Director of Engagement in Ohio who is dedicated to providing a superior education for all students in our upcoming 2024-2025 school year! OHDELA is a tuition-free online public school in Ohio for Grades K-12. The Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy helps Ohio online K-12 students thrive in their schoolwork and in life. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods.

The Director of Engagement provides vision and leadership to effectively develop and enhance student engagement with and within the school, working closely with leadership, staff, and the school community to shape and implement plans and strategies aligned with school goals while creating a welcoming environment for all. The Director of Engagement provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students' academic achievement, personal and social development and understands and responds to the challenges of a diverse student population. This person leads engagement interventions, family and student support and onboarding efforts, school-wide positive and proactive behavioral programming, health services, and works in conjunction with the Operations team to devise and implement attendance interventions.

**Ohio residence is required for this position**

  • Supervises Success Coach Coordinators, Success Coaches, Mental Health Counselor, and Community Engagement and Communication Liaison
  • Creates and implements success plans for non-engaged students
  • Monitors success plan implementation through a tiered approach
  • Oversees creation and implementation of student onboarding and orientation plans
  • In collaboration with the Administrative team creates and implements school wide positive behavior programming with the PBIS team
  • Monitors student attendance to facilitate the development of timely attendance intervention plans
  • Monitors implementation of the attendance plans plans
  • Works closely with truancy coordinator to ensure all truancy policies and plans are implemented
  • Point person for 30-hour, 72-hour, and 409 policies and processes
  • Ensure that mental health supports are available for students
  • Designs and implements proactive community outreach and communication efforts
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with the external community to support student development and engagement with the school including in-person and virtual field trips and events
  • Develops and implements promising and innovative practice in collaboration with the leadership team to decrease barriers to attract and retain students
  • Monitor MKV processes

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or related discipline is required; an advanced degree in education/educational leadership strongly preferred
  • Current valid Principal and Teacher license
  • Three or more years of experience working in an online school in an instructional leadership role
  • Two or more years of experience in successful school administration/instructional leadership in an online school setting
  • Successful experience in leading team toward results and managing projects to successful completion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
  • Demonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and / or company welfare
  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team members
  • Prior administrative assistance experience preferred
  • Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
  • Understanding and ability to manage confidential information
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
