Accela is seeking a mid-level Product Designer to join Accela UX Design, delivering enterprise web applications for governments, agencies, and citizens. To succeed in this role, you will need to draw on your enterprise design experience, as well as organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. You will create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes using the Oxygen Design System, while helping to grow the library of components, patterns, and guidelines.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- You are a ‘systems thinker’ who sees beyond the problem at hand and considers the interplay between different parts of the system
Organization
- Ability to interpret high-level strategy, and creative briefs, and apply to the task at hand
- Strong organizational and time-management skills including the ability to plan own work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
Collaboration
- Willingness to work closely with user experience researchers to understand users' needs and goals, and with product managers and design to envision, rapidly prototype and iterate on different concepts.

- Ability to ask probing questions about product requirements, users, desired outcome, and business need to get the information you need to improve the product
Communication
- Skilled in clearly communicating high concept and detailed design, both verbally and visually
- Ability to give and take direct feedback to meet requirements and push the product and your teammates further
Visual design
- Experience in visual design, creating flows, and building click-through prototypes for complex applications
- Practical knowledge of design principles, layout, and visual hierarchy
- High-level Understanding of CSS, HTML, responsive design, and UI frameworks
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years working as product or visual designer OR in a comparable role creating designs for enterprise web applications
- Online portfolio showcasing your ability to deliver solid visual designs
- Ability to clearly explain designs to developers
- Interest in Accessibility and designing for accessible experiences
- Expert in your design tools of choice – Sketch, InVision, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar; we are looking to move to Figma, so experience with Figma is a plus, but not required
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing for enterprise (business-to-business) products
- Ability to build click-through prototypes at various levels of fidelity for user testing
- Experience working iteratively in a scrum team practicing agile project management
- Experience designing large applications using an UI library of components and patterns
