ACCT Philly is seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers play a critical role at ACCT Philly, impacting almost all aspects of the organization with their dedication. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting and strengthening the volunteer program through recruiting, onboarding and training new volunteers, assisting in maintaining volunteer records, supporting the Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager, and cultivating relationships with volunteers. The person in this position is required to work with and handle animals as needed to train and oversee volunteers. This individual will report directly to the Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager and will work closely with them to ensure a seamless and positive volunteer experience.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
● Organize and provide volunteer training, including orientation and advanced skills development.
● Help determine and execute tasks for group and corporate volunteers.
● Educate and train volunteers about ACCT Philly’s mission, its policies and procedures and how they can best support the mission.
● Assist in monitoring daily activities of volunteers and act as support if needed.
● Establish an environment that encourages volunteer satisfaction, self-motivation, and longevity while also setting clear expectations for volunteers to follow.
● Regularly communicate with the Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager to provide updates on volunteer activities, challenges, and successes
● Assist in the scheduling and coordination of volunteer shifts and events.
● Assist in developing and executing a recognition program to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of volunteers.
● Review and approve volunteer applications.
● Upload promotional materials, such as videos, pictures, and behavior evaluations, onto animal profiles.
● Provide constructive feedback regarding volunteers and address any performance concerns to the Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager
● Maintain accurate records of volunteer information using Volgistics and Shelterluv
● Maintain an organized and welcoming space for volunteers to access supplies and ensure supplies are stocked.
● Collect and account for volunteer onboarding fees.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated experience in effectively utilizing various technological tools and platforms such as g suite and other applications and databases, including video conferencing software such as Zoom,
Minimum of one year of animal-handling experience whether professionally or as a volunteer, dog handling strongly preferred,
One year of supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Work Environment:
ACCT Philly is open to the public 10am to 6pm daily including on weekends and holidays, and may have as many as 300 interactions with the public in a given day, including with volunteers and rescue partners. The shelter operates at a fast pace and experiences rapid turnover of clients. While performing the duties of the job, employees are frequently exposed to odors and high levels of noise.
Introductory Assessment Period:
The introductory assessment period runs from the date of hire for 90 days thereafter. For employment in any position with ACCT Philly, this introductory assessment period is the period during which the specifics of the job are learned. During this period, either the employee or ACCT Philly may end the employment relationship without notice or prejudice.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager
SCHEDULING
· Daily hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department schedule.
· Includes weekends, nights, holidays and on-call work as necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
