Description
The Director of Maintenance is accountable for the comprehensive delivery of aircraft maintenance services to ACI Jet’s managed fleet of aircraft, as well as oversight of personnel within the Flight Operations Maintenance Department.
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned as required by management)
- Responsible for ACI Jet’s overall maintenance program pertaining to all company aircraft operated under ACI Jet’s 135 certificate.
- Responsible for ensuring that ACI Jet aircraft are maintained in accordance with 14 CFR 43, 91, and 135 and in full compliance with ACI Jet policies and procedures as well as the original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM).
- Coordinates with dispatch and flight operations personnel to ensure that the goals and objectives relating to all maintenance operations are achieved and carried out in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Coordinates the scheduling of maintenance with flight operations and repair facility personnel, and upon request, provides the current airworthiness status of the aircraft and the forecast downtimes to facilitate maintenance scheduling and ensure timely deferral or correction of aircraft discrepancies.
- Proactively mentors the Maintenance Manager team to resolve project, personnel, and process issues.
- Maintains close partnerships with the FAA PMI and PAI of the CHDO to foster a productive and transparent relationship.
- Supervises the development, implementation, and revision of maintenance-related company policy and required FAA procedural manuals.
- Ensures appropriate documentation, records, and logs are completed and maintained for all aircraft maintenance activities.
- Ensures compliance with aircraft weight and balance requirements including aircraft weight and balance records.
- Oversees internal audit systems to ensure compliance with Company standards and Federal regulations throughout the maintenance department.
- Develops and utilizes maintenance performance metrics to effectively plan and execute maintenance schedules and ensure on-time deliveries.
- Accountable for the Maintenance Control functions and responsibilities.
- Responsible for timely completion of all maintenance department staff appraisals; participates in peer review appraisal process with other ACI Jet management staff
- For maintenance department staff, responsible for managing disciplinary action according to established policies including counseling, written reprimands, and suspensions; makes recommendations concerning promotions, demotions, and terminations.
- Serves as a role model to maintenance personnel in the performance of quality aircraft maintenance in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual maintenance department operating and capital budget.
- Monitors monthly expense trends and actively seeks out opportunities to deliver high-quality services at the lowest reasonable cost.
- Ensures that Mechanical Interruption Summary (MIS) and Service Difficulty Reports (SDR) are submitted to the FAA as required by FAR 135.
- Ensures that all in-house and borrowed test and measurement equipment (calibrated tools) are maintained in accordance with the guidelines set forth in Company manuals.
- Has authority to issue Special Flight Permit for Ferry Flights for ACI Jet’s Fleet.
- Has authority to act on behalf of the Certificate holder, including the signing of FAA correspondence and Part D operations specifications relative to ACI’s FAR 135 certification.
- Coordinates and oversees maintenance performed by outside contractors in accordance with the procedures contained in Company manuals.
- Comply with all FARs, Operations Specifications, Company Policies, and Company Procedures.
- Ensures accomplishment of all Company sponsored and outsourced mechanic training, including initial and recurrent.
- Responsible for training any maintenance personnel that act on ACI Jet’s behalf under its FAR 135 certificate.
- Works in conjunction with the Safety & Compliance Manager in meeting the goals of ACI Jet’s SQMS and CASS.
- Completes any projects, as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Flight Operations, in a timely and high-quality manner.

Requirements
- Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate
- Must meet all requirements listed in CFR 119.71(e).
- Highly knowledgeable of Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to maintenance.
- Must have at least 10 years of experience in aviation maintenance, preferably corporate.
- Five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience and/or demonstrated management skills.
- Capability and eagerness to manage Company maintenance activities as required, supporting round-the-clock operations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Is receptive, responsive and realistic.
- Mathematical ability to assist in preparing annual budgets and monitoring fiscal activity.
- Must be computer proficient (Google Suite, MS Word / Excel, FOS, CAMP, Corridor).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently, in a high stress and fast paced environment.
- Must be highly motivated and organized.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, sit, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the year.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Highly Desirable
- International operations experience
- Gulfstream, Cessna, and Bombardier factory training
- College degree is highly preferred
Other
This position is a DOT Safety Sensitive position which will require placement in a random drug test pool.
The Director of Maintenance performs on-call duties and will require the candidate to occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays.
