The American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization established as a public-private partnership to advance government through collaboration, leadership, and education. The ACT mission is to advise and educate government on how to improve its operations and outcomes through the use of information technology. The organization fulfills this mission by providing conferences, white papers, professional development opportunities and similar programs, as well as collaborative opportunities of value to the government technology community. Executives from both government and industry participate in the work of ACT-IAC. ACT-IAC is a member-driven organization. The professional staff and member volunteers work closely together as partners to achieve the mission. ACT-IAC is a unique organization that provides an objective and vendor- neutral forum where government and industry executives can collaborate as peers on how to improve government through the application of efficient and innovative information technologies.

Position Description: ACT-IAC is seeking a Manager, Government Engagement, to add to its dedicated professional staff. This position will provide programmatic, analytical, facilitation, and administrative support to the Institute for Innovation (Institute), Communities of Interest (COI), Working Groups, and other assigned special projects. These groups develop and execute activities and projects that accomplish strategic mission objectives in alignment with ACT-IAC’s Strategic Plan and corresponding

Priority Areas. This is a full-time position that reports to the Director, Communities of Interest.

Duties:
The individual selected for this position will support the Institute, COIs, and other key projects as assigned. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as professional peer and staff partner to volunteer leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Provide project management support, data collection, and group facilitation to Institute and COI leadership.
  • Manage coordination and delivery of COI member meetings and engagement activities - both virtually and in-person.
  • Assist in managing the Institute’s annual Innovation Awards.
  • Responsible for planning, communication, and administration of annual COI elections.
  • Develop and analyze program requirements and plans to ensure alignment and consistency with the

ACT-IAC mission, policies, and procedures.

  • Responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing strategies for the Institute and COIs projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee multiple projects and activities that relate to the organization’s top priorities and other major events within ACT-IAC.
  • Maintain regular communication and engagement with key stakeholders and partners such as

Institute and COI leaders, and ACT-IAC staff.

  • Provide administrative support, including meeting preparation and minutes for the Institute Circle and Collaboration Council.
  • Contribute to the wider activities of the organization, to include conferences and forums.
  • Manage the Institute and COI communication channels such as webpages, LinkedIn accounts, emails, etc.
  • Provide general administrative support as required for program success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • PMP certification preferred and/or significant work experience (5 years) managing projects.
  • Experience working for or with the federal government is desirable but not required.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to manage and facilitate a broad spectrum of volunteer leaders, ACT-IAC members, business representatives, and government organizations, both professionally and effectively.
  • Must be adept at managing working groups and meetings.
  • Must excel at customer care and be willing to represent the organization to outside organizations and individuals.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ability to use independent judgment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
  • Must demonstrate a strong, result-oriented work ethic, be a self-starter, and able to work both independently and in groups.
  • Must be able to foster a cooperative work environment with ability to motivate other staff and volunteers to work towards common goals and objectives.
  • Proficient using the latest version of Microsoft Office and be able to perform research using the internet to support the development of written reports and white papers.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with industry experience and qualifications. ACT-IAC offers an excellent and competitive benefits package.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
