Description:
Perform the following construction materials testing quality control services: Determine the suitability of the on-site and off-site borrow soils and assess whether in-situ soils can accommodate the construction project by conducting preliminary soil testing and ongoing observations and tests. Test the soil and aggregates for strength, density, compaction, contamination, moisture, organics and assess the impact on the construction project, including NC DOT projects.
Skills:
Construction, Concrete testing, Construction materials testing, Concrete, soils testing, aci, nuclear density gauge, nuclear gauge, nicet, aggregate testing, asphalt testing
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Collect soil samples and performs proctor compaction tests at our in-house materials testing laboratory to determine optimal moisture content at which the soil type will become most dense and achieve its maximum dry density.
Performs soil compaction testing using the Standard Test Methods for Density of Soils in Place by the Drive-Cylinder Method (ASTM D-2937).
Performs Hand Auger Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) soil compaction testing.
Performs Nuclear Gauge in-place testing of soils, stone and asphalt.
Monitor the placement of compacted fill material for structures (residential, multi-family and commercial buildings, retaining walls, other structures and roadways).
Evaluate undercutting operations.
Perform proofroll observations where compacted soil is assessed for unsuitable areas in order to supply a balanced support system for the structure of a roadway or building. If unsuitable subgrade locations are identified during construction they are corrected so that the density of the subgrade is maintained.
Monitor placement of aggregates and geosynthetic materials for roadways and retaining walls.
