What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer/Technologist position at Actalent?
Description:
We are looking to add an additional Control Systems Engineer or Technologist to provide automation solutions to our industrial based customers. This position will involve control system design including PLC programming, HMI Programing and VFD Programing. Additionally, AutoCAD, electrical design and control panel layouts are some assets that would benefit the applicant.
We have recently gone through our workforce planning and have immediate needs for our teams. This role will be a mix of automation and control system design as well as assisting with on site support - the breakdown will consist of working in the office, as well as on site at the bulk material handling systems. The candidate will need to be familiar with heavy industrial automation of large machinery (bulk material handling and conveyors) and be comfortable being on site. This candidate must have good communication and a good personality as they will be dealing with clients on a daily basis. This positions will be heavily based towards programming, troubleshooting problems, maintenance as well as from scratch programming of industrial systems, (hundreds for I/O's.) Candidates that have not gained experience with programming and haven't created programming from scratch will not be considered.
This is a hybrid working model, typically consisting of 3 days in office/site, and 2 days from home. We are also interested in bringing on more junior candidates that don't meet the years of experience, but have direct/relevant work for 1-2 years.
MUST HAVES:
P.Eng, E.I.T., or Technologist designations
4 years direct industrial, mining or process plant experience.
4 years of PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens or Schneider PLC's, HMI's and VDS's.
4 years working and developing with HMI's (Wonderware or FactoryTalk or Ignition)
Experience working in aa on-site/commissioning environment.
