What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Hardware Designer position at Actalent?
Our client, a leader in the Automotive industry is looking for an experienced Controls Hardware Designer to relocate to Windsor, ON!
Description:
• In conjunction with Mechanical Design & Controls Engineering team members, analyze proposal product, equipment, customer specifications and process requirements to conceive and produce a practical controls design within the limitations defined by cost, time and the availability of equipment or components;
• Produce complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices
• Assist in the design & establishment of controls standards for new designs or modifications to the controls of existing equipment or process when required;
• Develop/ detail controls hardware designs (electric and pneumatic), and develop project Bill of Material. Complete standard design calculations. Ensure that designs are compliant with customer specifications and industry standards;
• Verify that electrical design package is complete, accurate and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards
• Verify that all drawings meet program requirements prior to issue to shop floor.
• Ensure PLC Programmers and builders have sufficient information to ensure the system works through the development cycle as required
• Produce complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices

• Material requisitions

• Network Communications diagrams
• Robot interface diagrams
• Station tooling diagrams
• Transfer system diagrams
Skills:
Automation, AutoCAD, Design, Turnkey, Drafting, Tooling, EPlan, Solidworks Electrical, weld assembly, Automotive, BOM, electrical, pneumatics, schematics
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working as a designer/drafter within the custom automation industry
- Good understanding of Body Assembly GEO and Fixture Tools for Weld Assembly Systems
- Exposure to GEO Stations, Respot lines, Nest and Hand off Tables, Robot End of Arm Tooling, Conveyor systems, transfer systems
- Experienced working off of pre-made standards and templates
- Experienced developing weld-assembly, body-assembly, powertrain assembly systems amongst other systems for automotive end-users
- Knowledge of fixture/tooling design
