Description:
We are in search of Engineering Technicians to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in performing field inspections, engineering design work and calculations. As a part of this work, you’ll be coordinating with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles.
Additionally, you will provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met, as well as conducting root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. You’ll engage with technical design and Client standards, ensuring quality and timeliness of design deliverables to QAQC.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
• Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work.
• You’ll engage with technical design and Client standards, ensuring quality and timeliness of design deliverables to QAQC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Graduation from a two year or four-year college or university with a B.S. is preferred. Engineering related focus.
• Experience or basic knowledge in the concepts in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, ability to use design software packages, and general construction knowledge and aptitude.
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
• Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing/presenting recommendations.
• MUST have strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation/initiative, and the desire to learn.
• Possess the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies
• Analytical competence to interact with variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers
