What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Actalent?
This is a 1-month contract position. As a Field Service Technician, you will audit the entire system installed by the integrator to ensure it has all markings and safety requirements clearly labeled in preparation for turnover to the end client. This role requires strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude. The team will inspect the entire conveyor line, which spans between 10-27 miles and is usually spread over 2-3 tiers. Responsibilities include checking emergency stops, protective guards, tightened bolts, and installed signs, as well as various other mechanical and safety items according to specifications. The technician will also use laser measuring devices and levels to ensure proper spacing, leveling, and dimensions of the conveyor system.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality assurance to deliver a defect-free site to the customer.
- Maintain constant contact with all sites to alleviate recurring issues.
- Remove superseded drawing packages from installation crews and liaise with engineering teams to maintain proper DWG revisions.
- Conduct recurring walkthroughs to ensure compliance with the latest engineering design documents/drawings.
- Supply proper engineering documentation regularly.
- Ensure compliance with installation testing (Newton pull testing for e-stops, sonic belt testing for lifts, racking and structural torque testing, etc.).
- Support Project Managers and Site Managers by identifying upcoming schedule deviation issues.
- Physically inspect and walk through cable management, guarding, belt condition and tracking, conveyor flatness/straightness and level, e-stop pull cord tension, ECC/DMC covers, trash removal by ME/EI, and hardware tightness.
- Use the Ozark system along with a cross-functional team.
- Produce weekly reports.
- Focus on visual inspections of the top 3 MI, EL, and safety issues discovered by Amazon IOQ.
- Use product manuals and unit checklists to continuously audit the installation teams, ensuring they use the latest revision drawing set for installation work.
