Description:
Seeking a certified MT/MLS candidate to provide expertise on the 3rd shift for the Blood Bank at a nationally ranked Chicago Hospital.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs Laboratory Testing
- Labels and processes specimens
- Performs laboratory procedures with minimal supervision
- Performs required QC procedures and preventative maintenance, including corrective action and documentation
- Recognizes discrepancies and attempts to determine the cause of problem
- Notifies appropriate supervisor regarding QC problems or discrepancies according to the established procedure
- Basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes with minimal assistance, documents action and notifies appropriate personnel
- Disinfects area at the start and end of each shift
- Will not accept inappropriate specimens
- Notifies appropriate person of specimens that must be drawn or collected again and documents the notification
- Ensure turnaround time of all samples
- Method evaluations and new procedure development or other special projects
- Participates in procedure implementation and training. Identify and participate in process improvement projects
- Communicates effectively with hospital staff
