Description:
Client has an immediate need for a Purchasing Agent to join their shop in Gilbert. This position is open to assist the Shop Service Manager with the operations of centralized purchasing, including but not limited to, procuring small tools, supplies, auto parts construction equipment parts and service-related items. This position will also include supporting the Shop Service Manager with facilities and yard activities.
• Facilitates purchases as requested by shop, and office personnel.
• Follows purchasing guidelines set by the Shop Service Manager
• Researches and develops vendor relationships, including negotiating pricing and quotes, ensures deliveries are on schedule.
• Maintains accurate inventory records.
• Ensures that warehouse operations are in accordance with established procedures and policies.
• Keeps management well informed of area activities.
• Maintains and reconciles petty cash.
• Attends safety meetings.
• Communicate, encourage, and enforce all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies and procedures with employees.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Previous purchasing and inventory control experience.
• Must possess broad knowledge of product lines.
• Knowledge of procurement operating practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and terminology utilized in construction industry.
• Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
• Must have effective interpersonal skills and positive attitude to interface with people.
• Must have interpersonal, management, organization, and planning skills sufficient to direct people and maintain acceptable level of productivity.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and database software, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Must be willing to adopt and improve knowledge and skills through self-study.
• Must be willing to work beyond scheduled hours if requested.
• Is open to change and can adjust to shifting priorities.
• Prioritizes work to meet goals or deadlines.
• Demonstrates attentive and active listening skills.
• Possesses a valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of minimum experience related to purchasing and/or warehouse management
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as determined by the hiring manager.
