Role and Responsibilities
• Ability to calibrate test equipment and/or troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Follows procedures and safely collects correct samples from production floor and returns them to the lab for quality testing.
• Safely, accurately and efficiently examines, measures, and tests the quality of products utilizing different testing methods/testing machines for different product types. Ensures that testing machines are in good working order before utilizing and notifies Lab Supervisor of necessary repairs.
• Accurately and timely completes lab testing and enters into databases for recording measurements. Assists colleagues with their data entry needs when testing requirements are busy.
• Assists with product labeling/packaging for archived product or marketing samples for customers
• Promptly notify the production Shift Supervisor and Lab Manager of product deficiencies so machine set up changes can be made. Ensures that the Shift Supervisor receives and acknowledges the product deficiency immediately via email, text, phone call or in person communication method. If unable to get in contact with the Shift Supervisor and Lab Manager, continues to immediately notify the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager or Corporate Administrator (in that order) to ensure that that the deficient product has been acknowledged.
• Maintains a clean working environment in the lab including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, especially when testing times are not as busy.
• Receives information from Lab Supervisor/Manager about: product, testing schedule, materials and testing needs, quality specifications and safety and environmental guidelines.
• Informs the Lab Supervisor/Manager about product quality problems, equipment problems and safety concerns.
• Ability and willingness to perform testing beyond the routine QA/QC testing required of a Laboratory Technician 1.
• Any other duties that the Company in its sole discretion may assign as needed.
**Candidate will be splitting time between the lab and the production floor. Candidate must have good mechanical aptitude and documentation skills.**

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Ideally looking for someone with 6 months of related testing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. High School diploma or GED, basic mathematics, unit conversion skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy safety oriented work environment. Works well in a team setting, reliable, trustworthy and maintains interpersonal, written and verbal communication abilities in English.
Preferred Skills or Education
Previous experience as a plastics/textile machine operator/ lab technician or experience working in an industrial setting. Is Proactive, self-motivated, and has a willingness to learn new things. Associates Degree or completion of a Certificate in manufacturing, science, machine tool technology, welding, industrial technology, or other related area. Current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification a plus.
Physical and Mental Requirements of the Position

• Position requires constant written and oral communication, mental alertness, agility, manual dexterity, reasoning ability, Visual acuity (color, depth perception and field of vision), seeing, hearing and talking.
• Position requires frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, sitting, typing/keyboarding, climbing, squatting, stooping, twisting, bending, grabbing and grasping.
• Position requires occasional utilizing stairs or ladders, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds, overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, twisting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, reaching above the shoulder, typing/keyboarding, fine manipulation and sitting.
• May be required to work in hot or cold ambient conditions with long hours standing or walking on a concrete floor.
