Job Title: Sr. Design Engineer

Job Description

The Design Engineer will be involved with a variety of engineering initiatives that focus on New Product Development (NPD) and continuous improvement of existing products to exceed customer expectations, national standards, and internal requirements for quality, cost, and manufacturability.

Key Accountabilities:

- Design mechanical components and systems for NPD initiatives related to the following product lines: backflow preventers, pressure reducing valves, automatic control valves, and fire protection products.

- Direct involvement in all aspects of product development, including ideation, prototyping, design verification, and production validation.

- Drive innovative idea generation by obtaining real-world exposure to product installations through job site and customer visits, and incorporate ideas into new product designs.

- Evaluate customer feedback, customer requirements, existing product designs, and performance standards to support the development of new products.

- Research, make recommendations, and execute product design enhancements or modifications to support cost reduction and quality improvements.

- Collaborate with engineers and lab technicians to develop and execute in-house validation tests and field test programs.

- Obtain third party product listings and certifications for new products.

- Collaborate with the drafting/design team to properly document all new designs within the document control system, including 2D drawings, 3D models, bills of materials, and technical literature.

- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.

- Any other job duties as assigned; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Work Environment

Working on a team of 13 people. Some domestic or international travel may be required.
