Description:
Looking for someone to provide the full range of architectural services on projects while managing and collaborating with internal team, client representatives and contractors to ensure the design phase is successful. Responsible for taking projects from inception to completion and involved in: conceptual design phase, schematic design, design development (construction documents), and construction administration phase. This project architect will be responsible for executing all K-12 and Higher Education markets. This individual should be familiar with specifications and code research to be able to provide technical support.
Summary: create scopes of work, coordinate the appropriate teams to complete the work, submit plans for approval, and work with the design team to create designs based upon user requests.
Day to Day:
-Meet with the users of the office, facility, or space that requires work to be done. Gain understanding of what needs to be done and how these users actually use the facility, office, or space that requires work.
-Present technical design solutions to clients and/or committees based on what they want and what they can deliver on
-Then work with estimators to create an estimate and scope of work.
-Submit work through database for approval
-Once approved, take the scope of work to the design team and begin the design process.
-Coordinate internal resources (design and construction) and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
-Create detailed step-by-step work plans needed to successfully complete projects.
-Determine the material and equipment required
-Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
-Run meetings to monitor project status and ensure it aligns with schedule and budget
-Manage, train and mentor design team from a technical standpoint
-Provide drafting and drawing guidance while designers develop floor plants/site plans/etc. and add dimensions
-Constantly maintain and develop relationships with clients
-Lead the Construction Administration process
-Produce and coordinate complete set of construction documents for permitting and bidding
-Mentor junior staff
Qualifications:
-Licensed in MI
-15 years total years of experience (involved in conceptual design phase, schematic design, design development and construction administration)
-Commercial projects - K-12, healthcare or higher education
-Revit
