What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Crew Chief position at Actalent?
Description:
Will make precise measurements to determine property boundaries and provide data relevant to the shape and contour of the Earth’s surface for engineering and construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Performs field work related to performing all types of surveys, including boundary surveys, construction layout, topographic mapping, planimetric mapping, corridor surveys and high accuracy control networks.
Accurately runs and adjusts survey instruments including GPS, robotic total stations, level and other electronic measuring devices with electronic data collecting capabilities.
Performs mathematical calculations. Reads and understands survey map data and construction plans.
Takes accurate and legible survey notes and performs simple note reduction and checking.
Home office can be in Brighton or Auburn Hills office, but job will involve daily travel to work sites through metro Detroit.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVES:
3 plus years of experience operating survey instruments and collecting information in the field and performing field computations
Demonstrated knowledge of principles of survey measurement, staking and marking
Knowledge of math, geometry and trigonometry
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
BONUS:
private sector project experience
ability to get Professional Surveyor license
