What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at Actalent?
Description: This person may need to travel to job sites around Ohio. Will occasionally need to stay in hotels, but only for 1-2 nights at a time.
Seeking a Survey Technician to support land survey projects across Ohio. This individual will serve a key function in leading a survey crew in topographic, boundary, and utility surveys as well as construction layout. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collect field data and information related to the preparation of survey maps and CAD files and also have the ability to draft and prepare survey maps from the acquired field data in a technologically progressive environment. Supporting various land development, commercial, warehouse, oil/gas, and other projects. Will primarily be working alone in a one-man crew. Seeking someone with prior survey experience who can hit the ground running.
- Collect field data for preparation of surveys by using surveying equipment and software;
- Assist in recovery of survey control and monumentation, construction layout, obtaining invert and subsurface utility information, and photo documentation of the project area;
- Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, and aerial photographs to assess project needs and assist in project approach;
- Process "field to finish" point data and draft surveys to company CAD standards;
- Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed;
- Prepare construction stake out computations for field crew;
- Perform other duties as requested.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or higher required; Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering a plus
- 3 years of experience in topographic, boundary, utility survey, construction layout, GPS
- Familiarity with Total Station and GPS equipment required - experience with Leica equipment a plus
- Familiarity with current local, state, and surveying regulations
- Survey CAD experience preferred but not required
- Proficient mathematical ability
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task effectively
- Excellent speaking, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
- Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
