Job Description

InterAct, part of Acteon Group, is an international engineering and project management firm that provides services to oil and gas, utilities and other industries. Our offering includes activity management, well/facility decommissioning, engineering, drilling and production, geological studies and permitting/regulatory/environmental services. InterAct's experienced personnel provide a broad range of professional and field services and offer practical, well-conceived solutions to client-specific project needs.


InterAct is looking to add a full time Geologist to the team to perform wellbore integrity reviews, quality assurance of team's work, and assist in managing the wellbore review team and geology related projects. This will include related aspects of permitting, regulatory compliance and due diligence for InterAct's clients. The Geologist will also maintain relationships with the related clients and regulatory agency representatives.


The successful candidate will be based in the Ventura area.


Duties

  • Performs thorough review of well file histories, related online databases, and supporting data logs
  • Performs complex analysis and interpretation of wellbore data to accurately depict the historic and/or current physical status of each required wellbore
  • Draft wellbore diagrams using a variety of drafting software including MS Publisher, MS Excel, WellView
  • Performs all quality assurance checks/final review of all well diagrams review and drafted by team of engineers and drafters
  • Performs quality assurance checks on data received from clients and alert client of any needed corrections
  • Coordinates with client drilling engineers and geologists to obtain all necessary data needed to complete accurate wellbore diagrams
  • Provides guidance and consulting to clients for injection well permit applications
  • Assist in well log interpretation in relation to conditions effecting well construction
  • Provides geologic expertise on various projects and regulations and in support of Regulatory permit acquisitions
  • Conducts geologic and other related skilled work as required, including visits to clients' facilities and other locations
  • Assist clients in collection of wellsite information, downhole well logging and wellsite quality control as needed
  • Provide activity reports for field work completed
  • Provide project management and facilitation of the oil and gas permit approval processes. These responsibilities include the development and preparation of regulatory permit applications and submittals, routine communications with clients on progress, as well as communications with agencies on status
  • Prepares and advises on preparation of Groundwater Monitoring plans including those required for Hydraulic Fracturing and Well Stimulation permits under the Senate Bill 4 law or technical requests for exemptions from such plans
  • Develops and plans for implementation of Compliance Assurance Plans


Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or environmental field, or equivalent experience
  • 10 years oil and gas regulatory experience
  • Solid professional skills: geology and related regulatory environment knowledge, i.e. agencies, regulations, permit application, compliance and reporting processes
  • Experience dealing with and resolving challenging regulatory agency and 3rd party issues
  • Working with multiple government agencies and inspectors
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to ensure that the assigned project goals, schedules and deadlines are met
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines to achieve goals and to identify and resolve problems
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively and to work on several parallel projects
