Atlanta, GA Remote Full Time

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forensic Accountant position at Acuitas, Inc.?

Acuitas, Inc. is an Atlanta based accounting firm that provides forensic accounting services to attorneys and their clients. Acuitas has been a leader in the Atlanta market for over 25 years. Specifically, we provide two types of services. First, litigation consulting services. In this field we are retained to assist counsel to understand financial and accounting issues throughout the dispute resolution process. Our engagements often lead to serving as an expert witness to explain complicated accounting and financial issues to a Judge or jury should a case proceed to trial. The second service line we offer is forensic accounting (or fraud) investigation services. Our engagements in this field range from situations involving allegations of financial statement misstatements to allegations of occupational fraud (theft by employees).

Acuitas is lead by a former Big 4 partner who has been practicing in this field for 33 years in the Atlanta market. Our client base includes law firms not just located in the Southeast but firms across the US. Despite our size, Acuitas has and continues to work on high profile matters providing all team members with access to a variety of clients and types of cases. Each of our team members has the opportunity to work on challenging and high profile engagements that will help develop your understanding of the forensic accounting field as well as help you develop your skill set needed to reach the next level in our field.

Opportunity for personal and professional growth is a large part of our culture. Specifically, during this search we are interested in identifying senior practitioners that either have a book of business or demonstrate the ability to develop a book of business under the guidance of current leadership. The ability to rise to the rank of Managing Director is available to a person who is able to demonstrate the ability to attract and execute new engagements as well as helping the firm continue to grow via the recruiting of new talent. This opportunity is not limited to senior applicants. With the right on the job training, it is possible for a motivated staff or senior associate to rise through the ranks based on their skills and work history.

Our current needs include employees at all levels which are staff associate (typically applicants with 3 to 5 years of experience), senior associate (typically applicants with 5 to 10 years experience), manager (typically candidates with 10 to 15 years of experience) and senior manager (typically candidates with 15 years of experience). Prior experience as an auditor is preferred but not required. Candidates with other types of relevant experience, such as internal accounting experience, will be considered.

It is a must that a successful candidate should either already have their CPA certificate or is qualified to sit for the exam. If this does not apply to you, please do not apply. Relevant other certifications include Certified Fraud Examiners and professionals that have been recognized as Certified in Financial Forensics by the AICPA. Should you be interested, a more detailed job description, for your particular level, can be provided to candidates that demonstrate they are qualified for the position.

We are currently working a hybrid schedule. We work in the office Monday through Wednesday and remotely on Thursdays and Fridays. However, presence in the office is occasionally required five days a week depending on client deadlines or visits by our clients. Consequently candidates should be flexible. Flexibility does work both ways at Acuitas as we are well aware of the fact that each employee has a life outside of the work environment. Travel for business is rare and the majority of our staff have not, and do not, need to travel for client engagements.

If you find that you are at a cross roads in your career let's talk. At Acuitas our focus is on providing the highest quality of service to our clients while eliminating much of the "red tape" and political aspects of a larger firm.
