Adair County Health System is looking for a Pharmacy Tech to work in our pharmacy department. Full-time, 36-hour work week. Monday - Friday 7:30a - 4p, with one half day during the week. This is can be a flexible schedule made between Pharmacy Director and Tech. This is a great opportunity to use your current skills and gain some new ones alongside our caring and dedicated team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Stores medications under proper conditions of refrigeration and control
- Rotate all stock to ensure outdated medications and supplies are not available for use
- Handle all medications with appropriate precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Under pharmacist supervision, filling medication orders and restocking automated dispensing systems (ADS)
- Manage recalled products and returns
- Under pharmacist supervision, maintenance of ADS including cleaning and updates to users and formulary
- Perform all clerical and record keeping duties necessary in the pharmacy
- Adhere to and promote the established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, safety, compliance standards and all others
- Demonstrate ability to consistently meet the department work schedule. Works assigned shift/shifts
- Conduct all interactions with patients, patient’s families, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uses discretion in patient interactions
- Maintain awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities
- Follow all OSHA requirements and adhereto universal precautions
- Maintain knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use
- Attend all mandatory hospital meetings and maintain needed continuing education
- Provide orientation/education for staff, students and healthcare members as directed
- Will work in other areas of the hospital as needed with proper orientation to that department
- Obtain and maintain certification for sterile compounding of IV products in pharmacy
- Assist pharmacist in inventory control in the pharmacy.
- Receive and price supplies as they are purchased
- Maintain medications stocked outside of ADS, such as crash carts, clinics, and kits
- Must keep pharmacy neat and orderly and be neat and orderly in work at all times
- Deliver medications throughout hospital
- Prepackage medications under the pharmacist’s supervision and maintain control records
- Perform pharmacy related duties as necessary, including daily tasks as assigned by the pharmacist
