POSITION: Superintendent Adams County Juvenile Detention Center
SALARY RANGE: $63,148 to $78,935 commensurate with experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in management, public administration, criminal justices, or social services, and three or more years of employment in probation/court services, at lease two of which are at a supervisory level. For juvenile detention personnel, at least one of the required years must be in juvenile detention/residential services.
OR
A bachelor’s degree and five or more years employment in probation/court services, at least three of which are at a supervisory level. For juvenile detention personnel, at least one of the required years of employment must be in juvenile detention/residential services.
Must be a United States citizen and a resident of Illinois within 90 days of the date of appointment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Superintendent
REPORTS TO: Director of Court Services
SUMMARY: Responsible for administering the total operation of the facility. To act as legal custodian to all residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists management in the development of long and short term objectives.
2. Organizes and manages the facility resource.
3. Monitors and evaluates programs and services.
4. Personnel Policies/Procedures
5. Prepares fiscal package for the facility on an annual basis.
6. Manages facility budget and makes adjustments as necessary.
7. Submits written reports and documents as required.
8. Crisis/Situational Management.
9. Program Development/Implementation.
10. Schedules Individual Staff for special assignments.
11. Makes necessary information available to the Director of Court Services.
12. Promotes increased public awareness of the role of court services in the justice system.
13. Staff Training and Development.
14. Assists management in the selection/promotion of personnel.
15. Maintains Staff communication.
16. Maintains Staff accountability.
17. Provides County Board/Committees with essential information.
18. File maintenance and documentation.
19. Acts as legal custodian to all residents.
20. Continuous inspection of physical plant.
