Summary 

The Assembler is responsible to work from engineering prints and assembly process sketches working closely with the Line Supervisor.  Additionally, the incumbent must comprehend the requirements necessary to meet production schedules; i.e., material, personnel, equipment and order scheduling, as well as have the ability to set up and make minor adjustments to a limited number of assembly equipment.  Additionally, the incumbent must pack completed products according to customer order, including the appropriate number of units and instructions, taping and labeling appropriately.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to correctly set up and perform a limited number of subassembly, assembly, testing, and packing operations within the Assembly department.  
  2. Ensure productivity is maintained at 100% or above to minimize cost to the department, while maintaining schedule integrity.
  3. Ensure that the quality of products being made is within company standards, limiting customer dissatisfaction. 
  4. Assemble small and large parts using fingers, hands, wrists arms and shoulders. 
  5. Recognize potential problems with products or processes to ensure that company quality standards are maintained and trouble shoot as necessary. 
  6. Ability to read detailed prints and engineering specifications.
  7. Must pack completed products according to customer order, including the appropriate number of units and instructions, tapping and labeling appropriate. 
  8. Maintain and increase job skills to allow for flexibility within the Department.
  9. Identify non-conforming product and follow ISO procedures.
  10. Provide input during testing and final acceptance. 
  11. Responsible for completing any attendant SPC paperwork as well as other routine paperwork required by the department.
  12. Ensure that accuracy, neatness and legibility of paperwork is maintained, minimizing cost to the department through elimination of tracking and corrections of mistakes.
  13. Provide Training in the area’s that you are proficient in and fill out form 8381 for OJT Training.
  14. May be required to work overtime per needs of manufacturing
  15. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

Education and Experience 

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. 3-5 years assembly experience, preferably with a mechanical skill set or aptitude.
  3. Experience with hand tools and electric and pneumatic drivers.
  4. Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English.
  5. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and outlook

 

Skills and Competencies

  1. Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines. 
  2. Ability to do math of different units of measure. .
  3. Fluent in reading and speaking English
