JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Lead Assistant Counselor
Department: Clinical
Reports To: Evening Administrator
Supervises: Program Service Aides/Counselor Assistants
Entry Level Qualifications:
1. Must be able to walk within the facility and on grounds of the facility for approximately 1 mile per every eight (8) hour shift.
2. Must be able to sit continuously from four (4) to six (6) hours per shift.
3. Must be able to physically assist a patient of average weight from 110 to 170 pounds from floor to a bed, chair or seclusion.
4. Maintain records and have good communication skills.
5. Must be able to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).
6. Must be capable of administering CPR and CPI and being certified.
7. Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
8. If recovering, must have two (2) years of continuous sobriety.
General Responsibilities:
Assist the Evening Administrator in providing supervision of Program Service Aides and Counselor Assistants, supervise and coordinate facility evening and weekend treatment activities and events; along with general program activities. Report all occurrences/incidents to the Director of Nursing/Treatment Director, or on-call personnel, in a timely fashion. Understand, interpret, and implement policies and procedures regarding behavioral discipline. Represent employees at designated facility meetings.
Essential Functions:
1. Act as a professional and ethical role model to patients and staff.
2. In the absence of the Evening Administrator; supervise, monitor and assume quality, clinical performance of personnel.
3. Provide comprehensive orientation, professional development and training of PSA’s/Counselor Assistant as directed by the Evening Administrator.
4. Monitor therapeutic environment and milieu, including security of the facility. Ensure that evening programming is conducted according to schedule.
5. Ensure staff coverage for the evening and night shifts, and on weekends as designated, and notify Evening Administrator of any deficiencies.
6. Direct, supervise, and monitor activities of evening and night shifts according to Bradford Health Services supervision policies and procedures.
7. Assure proper and legible documentation of activities conducted by the evening and night shift staff.
8. Able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.
9. Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients’ needs and concerns.
10. Able to work in constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.
11. Regular attendance.
12. Attend and participate in supervisory meetings and clinical staffings.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
