POSITION SUMMARY: The Intake Clinical Assessment Counselor will be responsible for completing screenings on all potential clients that present with the need for extended mental health screenings. In addition, the Intake Clinical Assessment Counselor can help to assess current clients that may be at risk for discharge

• Responsible for completing screenings on all potential clients that present with the need for extended mental health screenings.
• Responsible for being readily available to assist the intake team in quickly assessing clients with a higher level of mental health needs.
• Assist facilities in assessing current clients that are presenting with mental health needs beyond what the current facility can effectively treat.
• Maintain a respectful relationship with clients
• Always maintain confidentiality displaying a professional disposition towards fellow staff
• Complete all documentation by end of business day
• Meet all billing requirements
• Participate in staff and state regulatory training as required
• Adhere to program policies and procedures while maintaining a professional code of ethics
• Maintain a valid driver’s license
• The Clinical Counselor is expected to protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with Addiction Recovery Care, LLC/ Odyssey, Inc.’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with the general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:

• Bachelor of Arts Degree
• Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred
• Licensed and/or Credentialed Counselor
• Experience delivering lectures on addiction and conducting group sessions.
• Substance abuse experience preferred.
• Appropriate State and Federal Clearances

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system
• Knowledge of community health resources that support life improvement in physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health, economic security, employment, positive social and family interdependence and positive cultural identity
• Knowledge of 12-Step Recovery Program
• Knowledge of the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual impact of alcohol and other drugs on the individual and family
• Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction
• Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner
• Ability to interact with a multidisciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health
• Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize work- and work-related responsibilities
• Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT AND ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to read detailed health records
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
• Must have sufficient mobility to move around the office and the community
