Reports to: Program Director
General Purpose:
The Employment Support Specialist working within a PROS program provides rehabilitation and vocational supports to the PROS Community. Vocational supports includes: vocational assessments, counseling, referrals, job search assistance or job development and job coaching, individual and group counseling along with other direct services related to the treatment of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in a person-centered, recovery-oriented environment. This will be carried out as indicated by NYS OMH Part 512 Regulations and Medicaid requirements.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
Maintain caseload of up to 20 participants
Administer complete assessments, bi-weekly meetings, progress notes, and individualized treatment plans
Administer vocational assessments for participants with employment an goal.
Develop individualized vocational plans with participants, provide individual counseling and facilitate vocational groups as needed to help them reach their vocational goals
Assist program participants with soft-skills development to support job retention. prepare for basic job expectations such as handling stress/anxiety.
Assist program participants with resume creation and interview skills development
Provide referrals to appropriate outside vocational/educational services such as ACCES-VR
Provide assistance with job development and job search
Provide job coaching as needed to assist with job retention
Participate in team meetings to ensure coordination of vocational and other services
Facilitate 6-8 groups a week
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
BA in related field
Prefer 2 years of vocational experience with a SPMI/MICA population
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent computer literacy skills
Understanding of Evidence Based Practices and experience with IPS, Person Centered Planning, and/or working with individuals with Mental Illness
Bilingual/bicultural a plus
