Programmer (PLC and HMI)

Advance Industrial Refrigeration is looking for a PLC/HMI Programmer to be part of our growing Automation Team.

In a manufacturing environment, you will:

• Create and modify programs for HVAC-R equipment.
• Improve the existing programs for our equipment line.
• Program in Function Blocks, Structure Text, Ladder, SFC (honestly, program in any language that you can or the controllers we use allow)
• Get familiar with Carel and Allen Bradley controllers (we use a lot of them)
• Mark-up and update electrical drawings
• Interface with the engineering team to recommend changes to designs
• Gain knowledge of electrical controls and power wiring (programming is nice, but some electrical engineering experience is necessary)
• Learn a lot about air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (it goes without saying, we are an air conditioning and refrigeration company)
• Do some wiring. (Yep, run cables and connect them to terminals. Not glamours, but we give kudos to everyone that can do this)
• Test equipment in a factory setting (This is by far the best way to learn! You test our knowledge/skills in a controlled environment)

This position will be required travel around the United States and Canada to do commissioning on the equipment that you programmed. How much travel? It depends quite a bit, but let’s say 25% of the time for now but may be modified as you will not be the only one doing these tasks.

You will also provide technical support over the phone and over email. Customers usually have questions when it comes down to the logic inside the controller.

We are seeking committed people with a curious mind. You will do some learning on your own, but also get the chance to apply it to the equipment. It is a unique opportunity to work on all levels of programming, where your imagination is basically the limit to what you can and need to do.

This position is open to all levels of experience. We can teach you everything you need to know if you have the basic knowledge in programming and are a self-starter, driven professional, and eager to learn.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
