What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sandia - Pollution Prevention Field Technician position at Advanced Chemical Transport LLC?
On any given day you may be called to:
• Conduct facility, equipment, and waste/material verification and monitoring activities at the P2 and Lead Bank locations, including inspections, inventories, and coordination and support of maintenance, and repairs.
• Operate equipment in support of field operations, including but not limited to forklifts, box trucks, stake-bed trucks, scales, hoists, lift gates, trailers, pallet jacks, vacuums, blowers, and ladders. Use tools, including but not limited to drills, saws, and torque wrenches.
• Distribute recycle bins and labels to and collect recyclable materials (e.g., foam, carpet tiles, etc.) from Sandia National Laboratories locations.
• Distribute reusable items (i.e., printer cartridges).
• Provide customer support and evaluate and process customer requests.
• Conduct recyclable material collection and processing activities, such as foam densification and mixed electronics sorting.
• Conduct recyclable material and lead bank offsite shipment activities, including but not limited to tracking material pending shipment, prepping containers (e.g., labeling, marking, confirming good condition), loading containers, and confirming placarding.
• Retrieve boxes used to collect universal waste batteries and replace with empty collection boxes at multiple locations throughout Sandia National Laboratories. Collect lamps as requested.
• Screen collected universal waste to identify prohibited items and confirm appropriate condition, manage rejected items as appropriate, tape battery terminals as needed, package items into shippable configurations, label as required, and place into storage.
• Submit universal waste characterization for pickup.
• Clean (e.g., wet wipe), repair (e.g., apply spray paint), palletize, package (e.g., shrink wrap), weigh, label (e.g., Material for Recycle), and photograph lead received into inventory.
• Collect and deliver lead between Sandia National Laboratories locations.
• Arrange lead placed into storage by type and identify and track in inventory.
• Respond to members of the workforce inquiries and generate and maintain applicable records and reports.
The Pollution Prevention Field Technicians shall meet the following minimum requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Universal waste requirements training and at least one (1) year of experience conducting universal waste collection, packing, and shipment preparation activities at a waste management facility.
• At least one (1) year of experience managing recyclable materials at a waste management facility, including collecting, packing, and preparing for shipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
