Position Summary
- The Headquarters (HQ) embedded Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) shall be primary support and program management assistants to their local government program leads and embedded within identified worldwide Air Force (AF) Medical Major Commands (MAJCOM)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include managing all Operational Medicine (OpMed) info systems program activity within the command they support, such as coordinating and tracking training events, overseeing systems upgrades, patches and modernization activities; serves as the primary liaison between the commands they support, AFMRA, AFOMIS PM, JOMIS PMO and other related agencies
- APMs will track training needs of their respective AF MAJCOM and communicate with AF Operational Medicine Information Systems (AFOMIS) Program Managers (PMs) for all identified travel requirements; supports MAJCOM with continuity binder that contains critical information about the Military Treatment Facility (MTF)/MAJCOM to include processes in place identified with location/Points of Contact
- Must have experience with standard desktop configuration operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems and software sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems ensuring the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability
- Experience working with Special Operations networks, DoD information assurance, radios, biomedical engineering equipment, and systems administration with AF Network Operations (AFNET), and DoD/DISA managed healthcare networks and systems highly desired
- Travel (CONUS/OCONUS) required to support training exercises and events to perform oversight duties or train at other locations, including training events in a field environment
- Must maintain a higher degree of proficiency over functional aspects of systems in order to be able to provide EHR training support when needed, including proficiency from a systems administrator role to provide optimal support for the AFMS OpMed community
- Position will be required to dial into recurring and single teleconference meetings that the broader OpMed information systems community requires their commands to participate in
- Provides SME-level support to both MAJCOMs and AFMRA to meet the needs of sustaining, training and modernizing all TMIP AF applications and supporting their functional users, system administrators, and government leaders who manage those programs
- Ability to engineer operational guidance/solutions of critical voice, data, and imagery circuitry (telemedicine) with satellite telecommunications (military, civilian, ground and airborne) on all mediums and tactical networks
- Perform “other duties as assigned” by the government deemed necessary for program success
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; however, demonstrated equivalent service-related experience may be substituted for program management/technical requirements.
- Must have at least 3-5 years of experience managing DoD and/or AF Medical Service (AFMS) Healthcare Information Technology Programs, preferably TMIP AF applications (AHLTA-T, TC2, DCAM, TMDS, DTRS and MSAT) and preferably while serving on active duty in the AF; desired experience with JLV, TRACES, and Mobile Computing Capability
- Proficiency with all MS Office applications, simple project management software, and familiarity with WRM (War Reserve Materiel) and AF network operations preferred
- Proven experience at working independently, with combination of system administrator skills, certifications, and experience using TMIP AF products as an end-user/trainer preferred
- Security clearance eligibility required: Secret
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
- Some walking and standing required. Ability to lift and carry equipment (i.e. books, tools) weighing approximately 10-15 pounds.
- Most of the work is performed in-doors
- Work in the occupation involves making repetitive motions more than 1/3 of the time
- Requires standing for periodically
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel and bend
- Travel may be required.
