Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with 2 rotating Saturdays a month, from 9am-5:30pm
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy specific computer systems, and operational programs
- Maintains operational expertise and competency and actively provides coverage of at least two of the following:
- Central/distributive pharmacy operations
- Sterile compounding
- Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations
- Controlled substance Handling
- Hazardous Medication Sterile Compounding
- Quality Assurance & USP required sampling
- Technician Inventory Check (i.e., tech check tech where authorized)

- Participates in appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic health record system and be able to accurately interpret electronic records as needed
- Accurately completes medication inventories and accurately prepares and dispenses patient‐specific medication doses. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products
- Performs oral and injectable compounding, if applicable
- Carries out special projects or assignments as directed by supervisor or manager
- Understands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. Knowledgeable about the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Medication Spill Kits in the event of a hazardous medication spill.
- Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound-alike medications.
- Prepares and delivers medication in an accurate, safe and timely manner
- Supports practice in all pharmacy areas and clinical services

Qualifications
What You Will Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School degree or equivalent
- RPT-Registered Pharmcy Technician
- One year of hospital pharmacy experience (Retail or ambulatory experience acceptable for medication history function in lieu of hospital experience)
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem‐solving, and customer service skills
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary
- Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers
- Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to identify, mitigate, and assist in resolving pharmacy operational or program issues
- Ability to keep accurate and complete records
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
PREFERRED:
- PTCB certification

GENERAL SUMMARY: Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.
