CODER - ADVENTHEALTH SURGERY CENTER OF ROME

Work Hours/Shifts:

You Will Be Responsible For:
- Adheres to Advent/Surgery Center of Rome Core Values; display integrity, compassion, balance, excellence, stewardship, and teamwork.
- Occasionally trains others, as in orientation of new employees or acting as a preceptor for workers learning new skills
- Occasional contact with physicians and their office staff.
- Occasional contact with CDI team.
- Communicates to various departments when charges need added, deleted, or changed and when discharge dispositions and patient type/status needs clarified.
- Professional demeanor, patience, and tact required in dealing with any and all staff within the department, the facility, and outside influences
- Requires maintenance of confidential information encountered in every task associated with this job
- Requires compliance with department Coding Policy and Procedure manual and Coding Clinic guidelines, as well as, any governmental coding regulations.
- Requires coding knowledge of all specialties for ASC coding.
- Codes all the diagnosis, treatments and procedures for ASC records in accordance to departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- An Associate’s degree in Medical Record Technology/Health Information field or completion of a coding certificate program from an AHIMA or CAHIIM accredited school.
- Will consider candidates with inpatient coding experience in lieu of requirements if candidate possesses 3 or more years of ASC coding experience with a 75% or greater accuracy rate.
- Outpatient ASC coding experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Health Information Management field preferred. Completion of an ICD-10 training course
- Three to five years ambulatory surgery centermcoding experience.
Job Summary:
Assigns codes to freestanding surgery center accounts utilizing the 3M Encoder. Will work with center Business Office Manager of the Surgery Center of Rome. Will work and resolve the charge correction issues daily and work with the team to ensure timely coding/billing and review coding as needed to address rebills/denials and appeals. Employees may be asked to assist with outside payer audits as well as RAC and ADR audit requests. Employees will assist in training Coder Analyst II team members on ASC coding when necessary.
