Position: Investigator
Location: Advocate Support Center
Full Time; Day Shift
Purpose:
Investigate complex cases of policy violation or criminal activity to ensure the safety of Aurora's patients, caregivers, and visitors.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in security, loss prevention or investigations.
- Advanced knowledge of security practices, procedures and related state and federal compliance requirements.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, public relations and general administrative skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations, prepare reports for decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgement and sound reasoning while maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor in dealing with employees, visitors, and patients.
- Demonstrated experience in assessing dangerous situations quickly, accurately, and taking appropriate action.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and external organizations to problem solve.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Officer or similar products.
- Demonstrates a high degree of diplomacy and public relations skills as well as the ability to effectively gain the cooperation of outside agencies such as law enforcement agencies, OSHA, NIOSH and local fire departments.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday.
- Must lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Temperature in working environment (when outside) may vary significantly due to seasonal changes.
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, and radiation hazards.
- Protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Accountabilities:
- Implements best practices in the area of security investigations including case management, interview and interrogation protocol, and report maintenance.
- Provides system wide problem solving assistance, guidance, and consultation to staff regarding security investigation, and services as a liaison to law enforcement agencies. Coordinates cases with law enforcement as necessary.
- Investigates significant cases of internal policy violation or actions that are or may be criminal in nature.
- Gathers and analyzes data obtained through the investigative process to identify patterns, trends, or causes and recommends corrective actions to reduce future occurrences.
- Develops in collaboration with other departments such as Compliance, General Counsel, and Risk Management, system wide strategies for operational and regulatory reporting of misconduct in support of organizational policy and law enforcement requirements.
- Stays abreast and knowledgeable of regulations and laws pertaining to investigations.
