What are the responsibilities and job description for the MCI Triage Supervisor position at Advocates?
Overview
The Triage Supervisor will maintain and implement a system to manage incoming triage requests and help determine the most appropriate course of action to individuals in crisis by helping them identify and access resources for treatment. The Triage Supervisor will also conduct crisis assessments and promote the community-based, customer service focused mission, training and supervising of program staff.

- Along with Vice President of Emergency Services and the Framingham PES Site Director, develop, implement, and maintain a triage system for all incoming crisis requests.
- Determine the most appropriate response to clients in crisis in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems; provide other clinicians with managed care information and resources pertinent to crises being managed.
- Provide shift reports to other team members so that clinicians are updated regarding pending cases and requests for services.
- Provide psychiatric and substance abuse evaluations to individuals and families in crisis in the community and in the clinic.
- Provide supervision to BA clinical and triage staff.
- Provide information to the team on treatment and referral services.
- Assist in answering customer service inquiries.
- Attendance at supervision and staff meetings.
- Seek and create opportunities to collaborate across divisions within Advocates.
- Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy and the Advocates Way.
- Ensure all paperwork, reports, and trainings are up to date and completed within the Divisions expected timelines.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in related field and Massachusetts independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT); 3 years’ post licensure experience and 1 year supervisory experience.
- Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate a proactive commitment to maintaining effective communication with staff and customers to facilitate and promote effective working relationships and customer service.
- Strong computer knowledge.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.
- Outstanding reasoning and problem solving abilities.
- Must have valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
