Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer in the Kansas City, MO area.

This position is expected to begin in August 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an
• experienced engineer
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
• Perform hydrologic analyses using a variety of methods and software.
• Develop 1D and 2D hydraulic models that simulate ready-state and unsteady flow regimes using the latest software.
• Produce maps, reports, and databases to communicate the results of the hydraulic analyses to industry professionals, public officials, and the public.
• Perform self-checks and peer reviews to adhere to both client and internal quality standards and processes.
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team of project managers, water resources engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS analysts.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering or closely related field
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred (not required)
• Experience with hydrology and open channel hydraulics
• Strong Technical Writing and communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment
• Must be a self-starter with the willingness and ability to take initiative and propose solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems and tasks.
• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
• Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS).
