Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer in the Kansas City, MO area.
This position is expected to begin in August 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Builds analytic and design skills.
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an
- experienced engineer
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Perform hydrologic analyses using a variety of methods and software.
- Develop 1D and 2D hydraulic models that simulate ready-state and unsteady flow regimes using the latest software.
- Produce maps, reports, and databases to communicate the results of the hydraulic analyses to industry professionals, public officials, and the public.
- Perform self-checks and peer reviews to adhere to both client and internal quality standards and processes.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team of project managers, water resources engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS analysts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering or closely related field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred (not required)
- Experience with hydrology and open channel hydraulics
- Strong Technical Writing and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment
- Must be a self-starter with the willingness and ability to take initiative and propose solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems and tasks.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS).
