Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Coastal GIS Specialist for employment in the Charleston, SC office.
_This position is expected to begin in_ August 21, 2023
Responsibilities:
Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geospatial data for new and ongoing coastal projects.
Develops and maintains databases, reports, and maps. Creates, organizes, manipulates, and retrieves GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
Prepares and updates metadata.
Performs quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS from a recognized GIS program and 2 year experience of demonstrated GIS experience working with environmental geospatial datasets, preferably with coastal, hydrographic, or other water related data, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
1 - 2 years of demonstrated GIS experience working with coastal datasets.
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS mapping products
Understanding of relational database organization, design, and functionality
Proficiency in the processing and analysis of raster and vector geospatial data
Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles
Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form
Experience working with online mapping platforms and applications
Demonstrated knowledge of coastal processes including flooding, erosion, sea level rise, shoreline protection, etc.
Experience working across remote networked storage environments
Experience working with coastal datasets including Digital Elevation Models (DEM’s), LiDAR, bathymetric survey data, flood modeling data, shorelines, aerial imagery, or other hydrographic data
Familiarity with python or other languages for geospatial coding
