Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Cultural Resources NEPA Specialist to join our Environmental Planning Group near an AECOM office in our Western Region.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to join our interdisciplinary team to : support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting by writing technical resource reports and analysis related to cultural and tribal resources;
interface with clients and other technical experts; support public outreach efforts; and contribute to a positive teamwork-oriented company culture.
This position requires excellent communication, technical, and writing skills; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
Opportunities for growth include development of client relationships, marketing and business development, and leading interdisciplinary teams on diverse projects.
Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to :
- Participates in complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.
- Reviews and analyzes impacts associated with complex comprehensive land management plans and implementation level planning.
- Conducts research and prepares resource reports related to a suite of cultural and tribal resources across broad landscapes.
- Provides subject matter expertise to project managers and clients regarding cultural resource laws and planning.
- Coordinates with agency cultural resource counterparts and tribal members regarding proposed project activities and impacts.
- Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and resource management projects as they relate to cultural resources.
- Develops plans, studies and analyses on a regional basis.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, environmental science, policy, planning, or a related field and 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance; cultural resources; or environmental permitting and technical report writing
- Knowledge of federal environmental laws and their implementing regulations, including, but not limited to : National Environmental Policy Act, Antiquities Act, National Historic Preservation Act and Executive Orders related to Tribal consultation and traditional knowledge.
- Knowledge of current issues and projects related to the Bureau of Land Management, Reclamation, Forest Service, and other federally administered lands
- Excellent organization and time-management
- Experience planning for or managing recreation, land use, or wilderness areas
